I'm so glad we took the extra day (even if I did get that dang ticket)! I'm grateful for the conversations and the quiet and seeing so many beautiful things together. #retreatlife
Thank you so much for reading. It takes deep inner strength to withstand this kind of climate. I’m grateful for thoughtful, wise companions along the way and for all the gifts God has given for our mutual strengthening!
I deeply appreciate your writing here. We’re such kindred spirits! Being intentional with my time and my focus and my creativity is what keeps me afloat. Pulling threads and drawing lines shows trails of conversations with my Creator.
Good to see you here, friend. I love the way you bring creativity and intention into everything you do. It’s a gift to watch the world slow down through your thoughtful, layered stitching. There's something so grounding about an artful practice like that. We need those hands-on, soul-centering practices all the more when the world feels like a mess.
I was just telling a friend that a silver lining to these stressful times is the mess of it all helps me prioritize my more helpful daily practices. Like I really notice a difference the recalibration brings. I think it was Richard Rohr who said something about theology often being found in points of paradox (think virgin & Mary, baby & Jesus, death & resurrection/life) and I think the practical living out of a faith often happens in crux positions, perhaps even crucible moments of high contrast.
Oh friend, you captured this all so beautifully. Such glory, such juxtaposition, such deep theology in these roots and trees that touch heaven. It delights me that you were able to “taste and see” it too! 🫶🏾
Your hospitality made this experience possible, and I’m so grateful. Walking among these trees and the mountains was a huge gift, literally and spiritually! Thank you for creating space for wonder, reflection, connection, and deep joy.
I definetly feel a lot of what you do, and ended up writing a bit about inauguration + MLK day and how we respond in fires also in the past couple weeks! Lots of analogies to soak in. Although I live in SoCal now, I've always been enamored by and wonders of the Sierra Nevada's, and consider the Sequoias one of the best places on earth. I love them! So much majesty!
I love that you’ve been picking up on these themes, too. We need that shared wisdom for responding to these times. I’d love to read what you wrote. And yes, the sequoia grove is one of the most peaceful, awe-inspiring places I’ve ever visited. 🤩
So well articulated and beautifully written, so thankful that we are adventure buddies❤️

These are encouraging thoughts as always, Darcy. Thank you!
